Opus One is a prestigious joint venture between the legendary Californian winemaker Robert Mondavi and the late Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild. The first vintage, 1979, was released in 1983 at the unprecedented price of fifty dollars per bottle, instantly establishing the wine as a symbol of luxury and innovation in Napa Valley. The estate’s fruit comes from densely planted vineyards surrounding the state-of-the-art winery in Oakville, within the heart of Napa Valley’s most celebrated terroir. Opus One is crafted primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, with 95% of the blend dedicated to this variety and 5% Merlot, producing a rich, complex, and age-worthy wine. Winemaking is meticulous, with the wine aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels, followed by an additional 18 months in bottle before release. The result is a wine of exceptional depth, elegance, and refinement, earning its reputation as one of California’s most iconic and highly collectible wines. Opus One consistently attracts the attention of collectors and investors worldwide, offering both prestige and long-term value in the luxury wine market.
