Château Suduiraut is a historic winery located in Preignac, in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, with vineyards that border the legendary Château d’Yquem. Renowned for its Premier Cru Classé wines, Suduiraut has a legacy of excellence dating back to the 15th century. The original château was largely destroyed in the 16th century, with only a solitary wing remaining. The current 17th-century château was built by the Suduiraut family, who also commissioned a spectacular formal garden designed by Le Nôtre. Since 1992, Château Suduiraut has been owned by AXA Millésimes, which also manages prestigious Bordeaux estates including Château Pichon-Longueville in Pauillac and Château Petit-Village in Pomerol. The estate’s 90 hectares of vineyards are planted with 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc, optimized for producing its signature sweet wines. Grapes are carefully hand-harvested in multiple “tries” to ensure only the best, botrytized fruit is used. Fermentation takes place in 50-hectolitre stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in small oak barriques (33% new) for 24 months, creating wines of remarkable complexity, power, and harmony. Château Suduiraut wines are built to age, reaching their peak after at least 10 years in the bottle, making them perfect for collectors and enthusiasts seeking classic Sauternes sweetness and elegance.
