Château La Tour Carnet is a prestigious Bordeaux wine estate located in the Haut-Médoc appellation. Classified as a Quatrième Cru (Fourth Growth) in the historic 1855 Bordeaux Wine Official Classification, the estate was originally known simply as Carnet. Today, it is the largest classified growth in Bordeaux by vineyard area and produces an average of 900,000 bottles annually, making it a significant presence in the global fine wine market. Since 1999, Château La Tour Carnet has been owned by renowned Bordeaux proprietor Bernard Magrez. The estate spans 126 hectares, of which 73 hectares are dedicated to vineyards. Red grape varieties dominate, with 56% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. The estate also cultivates white grape varieties, including 45% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Sauvignon Gris, and 30% Sémillon, allowing for a diverse and balanced portfolio of wines. Château La Tour Carnet produces a second wine, originally labeled Les Douves du Château La Tour Carnet, and renamed Les Pensées de La Tour Carnet in 2014. The estate is widely recognized for its continuous innovation and research, particularly in adapting to climate change. Concerned about rising temperatures affecting Merlot, the vineyard has planted 75 different grape varieties to study their resilience and optimize future production. Advanced technologies, including drones and robotics, are also being tested to protect vineyard health and maintain the estate’s high-quality standards. Since 2010, Château La Tour Carnet has been considered a wine to watch, with significant improvements in quality attracting the attention of collectors, investors, and enthusiasts seeking Bordeaux wines with strong investment potential. The combination of historic classification, extensive vineyard holdings, and forward-thinking viticulture ensures Château La Tour Carnet remains a compelling choice for fine wine portfolios.
