Champagne · New release ·  Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2015

2015 was a hot, dry summer. Cellar master Alexandre Ponnavoy described the year as ‘challenging’ for Chardonnay due to the dry conditions restricting the phenolic ripening, this gave most Houses problems, but not Taittinger. They were able to select the very best grapes from five of the very best sites in the Cotes des Blancs, Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, all of which had reached phenolic maturity, and in solar years he was happy to accept that extra ripeness, but ensured balance was retained.
The results have recieved a 97 point score from Antonio Galloni of Vinous media. He comments that the wine is:
“Light on its feet and crystalline, the 2015 is terrific.”

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2015 – £640/6 IB
“Comtes de Champagne is Taittinger’s prestige wine. It is made only in the years the house judges good enough, in small quantities, from the first pressing of Chardonnay grown in five grand cru villages of the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. It then rests for ten years, 18 metres underground, in the fourth-century chalk cellars of Saint-Nicaise in Reims.” Antonio Galloni
100% Chardonnay; dosage 9 g/l, 12.5% ABV, disgorged July 2025. Released on 8 October 2026.
